About Me: After graduating, I taught English in Daejeon, Korea. After leaving Korea, I was a kindergarten teacher for 4 years in West Philadelphia. I am currently in my 2nd year of teaching 4th grade ELA/SS in EHT.
Barkada’s Impact: Although I was busy with varsity tennis, Barkada was one of the groups I felt like I belonged. I learned more about my Filipino culture while making friends. I had so much fun in the little room making halo halo, telling stories, learning about each other and our cultures together. I learned how to do the pandanggo sa ilaw and tinikling dances! Barkada helped spark my interest of really diving into knowing the culture.
Advice To My Younger Self: Do what your heart wants to do and go to more Barkada meetings and FIND. Skip those tennis games and be where you really wanted to be!
