GBM #7: Magkasama Con Alegria

This week, we collaborated with MEXSA to host Magkasama con Alegría! We began the meeting by introducing both orgs, and giving some background on the connections between Filipino and Mexican culture. Then, we began breaking the ice with some rounds of Kwik Konnections, answering some questions to get to know new people! Then, we played Find Your Trio, where everyone had to guess the English, Tagalog, or Spanish word stuck to their back and find the people who had the same word in the other languages! Our next game was Traeme Algo, where the last players to bring the item were eliminated, with Bheem winning by finding a rock in the ICC. Who would have expected there to be a rock right on the shelf?? Not me. Then, we played In Out, where you had to jump in and out of a circle without losing your balance. Finally, we ended by having the short people play a pabitin, a Filipino party game where you have to jump and grab a goodie bag from a wooden grid, and having the tall people play a piñata, which unfortunately broke upon hanging. Despite the technical difficulties, we all got to enjoy some candy and unite by sharing cultural traditions with each other!
